We have a chance to design something that reflects our Humboldt Community, history, and needs.
• We have a Purchase Option Agreement on the property in McKinleyville south of Hiller Road and west of Central Avenue.
• A wetland study and mitigation design has been completed and will guide the purchase terms and planning.
• In 2022, we changed our name from Life Care Humboldt to Life Plan Humboldt. Life Plan Humboldt is a more appropriate name for the type of community we are planning.
• We have been successful at raising over $1Million (so far) to fund the initial planning and designs of the project.
• In 2022, we gained 400 newsletter subscribers for a total of over 1200 now.
• 257 of 460 survey respondents are very likely or likely to move into LPH in 3-5 years.
• There are over 70 LPH volunteers, including 16 Ambassadors trained to spread the word.
• We have completed a preliminary feasibility study which indicates that a local population could financially support a Life Plan community.
• We have done a survey of needs and wishes using “Human-centered design" by interviewing a cross-section of the applicable population.
• Begun working with professional planners to describe alternatives and analyze what is possible in Humboldt County.
