When I think of the possibility of living at Life Plan Humboldt I see myself living in a community of friends and acquaintances with nearby neighbors providing companionship, rather like an old-fashioned village. I think there could be a welcome simplicity to life, with, for example, a reduced need to drive to the supermarket or the gym. I would not have a large house and yard to care for, but I would be able to choose how much engagement with such activities I wanted. At some point in the future that lifestyle might become very appealing.
I also think about my adult children, and how they might feel more confident about my security, and how it might reduce their burden for caregiving. And I realize that should I need to transition from independent living to assisted living, the transition would be much less disruptive.
For those reasons, and others, I support the Life Plan Humboldt project.
